Problem Statement
The education system (Primary School) in the eastern part of the country Nigeria, Enugu State was going through a turmoil, where students have to go to the cybercafé to register for their examination, so my team and i decided to provide a solution for them to limit the stress of having to go to the cybercafé every time to register. We developed a webapp, where schools can purchase voucher and help students register , we also made provision for an admin dashboard for the government officials to be able to track the students that have registered and those who ahve not

Challenges
When the Government of Enugu State approached us with the aim of redesigning the platform for students registration, with the need for a fast paced project having that the exam will be starting the in next 2 month. They also informed us that some of the students are having issues with the registration resulting in only 60% of students registering for the exam. My team and i resolved that the website cant be the only reason why almost half of the students are not able to register the exam. We met the stake holder and asked that we be given 1 week for a very quick research to get to the fundamental root of this problem. My team and I visited about 10 schools (5 private and 5 public schools where we asked the students the cause of their problem , mainly targeting students in the rural area. We resolved the following issues.
Cash Issue: The students had access to cash but some of them don't have access to electronic methods of payment (ATM and transfer), so by the time they find someone willing to help them make the payment, some of them end up missing the deadline)
Distance to the nearest Cybercafé: Most of the students raised concern on the distance from their place to the cybercafé was very far from where they live, resulting in them waiting for the time their parents are comfortable enough to go to the cybercafé with them, resulting in some missing the deadline.
The user interface: The user interface was nit entirely user friendly for the students

Solution
The solution was pretty simple, we decided that instead of individual students going to the registration individually, the school should do the registration as a unit, students bring the cash that they have and the schools helps them make payment,. They make payment to us and get the voucher codes we send to them and they give it to the students. This also allow that school to monitor the activity of the students that have registered and those that have not registered as well

Results
At the end of the redesign, we had a 100% success in getting all the students to register for their exams, which was a huge success from the team. This method has also been adapted in 3 other states here in Nigeria, to help ensure that every students is given an equal levelling ground to succeed

Lessons
The lesson learnt from this project was a lot, ranging from the fact that not everything is about fancy UI some issues are fundamental, and we will not know that unless will speak to the users. The second lesson being that, sometime we have to come to the level of our target audience to allow them to be free and open up to us about their actual challenges. In this case, we used our dialect to interact with this kids and make them feel that they are free to share their concerns with us
